Tips for using the sugar thermometer:

Clean the thermometer before use, even if it is new .

Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not immerse a cold thermometer in hot liquid to avoid breaking it.

Beware of burns ! Heated sugar is extremely hot and sticky. Work carefully to avoid burns.

Clean immediately after use by dipping the metal part of the thermometer in warm, soapy water to dissolve sugar residue. Avoid getting the electronic parts wet if they are not waterproof.

Store in a dry place to avoid rust or damage.
